Three months after launch, Meloy outraises field, earns community support, gains momentum in run for Congress

Meloy raised over $130k in Q4, earned endorsements of 25 elected and community leaders

Pittsburgh, PA– On the three month anniversary of his campaign launch, Democrat Sean Meloy announces momentum gains in his run for Congress. After announcing his campaign in November, Meloy raised more than $130,000 in 7 weeks, outraising all opponents in Q4 and reporting ⅔ of contributions at or less than $100, and earning the endorsement of more than 25 elected officials and community leaders. If elected, Meloy would be the first LGBTQ+ person elected to Congress from the Keystone State.

“I am grateful for the grassroots support we’re earning in this race. As someone from a middle-class family, I can’t rely on a network of millionaires to fund my race, and am counting on folks who know change is possible, even $5 or $25 at a time,” said Meloy. “Our race is built by the from the grassroots which is why we’ve come so far in just three months, including 25 endorsements from hard working leaders.”

Pennsylvania State Representative Scott Conklin, Sharpsburg councilmembers Carrie Tongram and Sarah Ishman, Crafton Councilmember Vincent Ridilla and Wheeling, West Virginia Councilmember Rosemary Ketchum have endorsed Meloy and join now more than 20 elected officials and community leaders backing Meloy in his run for Congress.

“Sean has been organizing since before he could vote – and has made PA a better place. I know he will work hard to make DC a better place because he will authentically be fighting for working people of PA every day. I’m proud to endorse him for Congress,” said PA State Rep. Scott Conklin.

“Sean has always looked out and worked towards building a pipeline of good, working class officials to represent our communities at all levels of elected office. I’m proud to support him to do the same in Congress,” said Vincent Ridilla, Crafton Councilmember.

“”LGBTQ leadership in office is important to having a government that reflects the people it is meant to represent,” said Sarah Ishman, Sharpsburg Councilmember. “Sean has helped make that happen here in Western PA – and will be that as the first out LGBTQ person to represent PA in Congress. As a part of that community I’m really excited about the visibility that Sean will bring!”

“I am so proud to have earned the endorsement of these incredible elected officials and community leaders. Their work has led to lasting community change and brought marginalized communities to the forefront or policy,” said Meloy. “I will be sure to put the welfare of the people of Western PA first and never forget they are the priority in all I’ll do.”

This new slate of endorsements comes as Meloy’s campaign gained grassroots momentum across the district, joining leaders and activists across the Commonwealth and country in support, including LGBTQ+ Victory Fund; Pittsburgh City Councilman Corey O’Connor; community leaders, Michele Boyle, Tracy Baton, Angie Valvano, Tyler Titus, Lissa Geiger Shulman, and Daniel Smith; Valerie Fleisher, Mt.
