In just seven weeks since launch, Meloy raised $130k, with two-thirds of of donations under $100.

Pittsburgh, PA –  Democrat Sean Meloy today announced a slew of new endorsements from local elected officials and community leaders and strong grassroots fundraising over the first seven weeks of his campaign in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.

Pittsburgh City Councilman Corey O’Connor and community advocate Michelle Boyle, along with community leaders Tracy Baton, Angie Valvano, Daniel Smith, and Dr. Tyler Titus all voiced support for Meloy’s candidacy. They join dozens of local elected officials and leaders in supporting Meloy and his vision for stronger representation and pragmatic progressive policies to support working families.

“I’ve seen Sean working for the people of Western Pennsylvania directly from our time together in Congressman Doyle’s office to his commitment getting Democrats elected across our region,“ said Pittsburgh City Councilman Corey O’Connor. “Sean has the experience and grit we need to organize and keep a true representative of working people in this seat.”

“I am so honored to have the support of these respected community leaders,” said Meloy. “Together we are building a strong, grassroots campaign that will win all across Western Pennsylvania.”

“Sean is a real deal progressive. He’s been fighting for our community and tirelessly doing the work to elect good Democrats up and down the ticket. I am proud to support him in this race because we need authentic leaders in Congress now more than ever.” said Angela Valvano, activist, organizer and former Ellwood City Council member.

“Sean has been in the trenches all across western PA working to make sure we have good people in government who are working to represent their community’s interests, not their own,” said community leader and past Democratic Nominee for PA State House, Daniel Smith, “He would be a good fighter for Western PA and I’m proud to support him.”

“Sean has worked across Pennsylvania – and the country – to get voices into office that reflect working people and their communities. His voice is one that we need right now in Congress because we know the government isn’t working for us,” said Commonwealth leader and small business owner, Dr. Tyler Titus.

Over the first seven weeks of his campaign, Meloy raised more than $130,000, with two-thirds of donations at less than $100. “I’m so proud to have earned the support of so many in our community who stepped up with contributions to help us build a strong campaign from day one.

“Growing up as a middle class, gay kid, I don’t have a network of millionaires and billionaires to fund my campaign and I couldn’t do this without the strong support from grassroots supporters.”

This round of endorsement shows the growing grassroots momentum for Sean’s campaign as they join leaders and activists across the Commonwealth in support, including Valerie Fleisher, Mt. Lebanon School Board Member and State Democratic Committee Member; Elizabeth Dunn, Shaler Township School Board Member; Jessica Semler, Etna Councilwoman; Rob Frank, State Democratic Committee Member; Jennifer Buchanan Rapach, State Democratic Committee Member; Abigail Gardner, State Democratic Committee Member; Lissa Geiger Shulman, Hampton Democratic Committee and Former Candidate for State House District 30; Jim DePoe, President of Steel City Stonewall Democrats and labor leader; Autumn Monaghan, Chair of Harrison Township Democratic Party.
