Congressman Mike Doyle endorses Sean Meloy

Dean of PA Delegation endorses in critical PA-17 race, first federal endorsement

Pittsburgh, PA – Democrat Sean Meloy earned his first federal endorsement from Congressman Mike Doyle in the race for United States Congress in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District. The newly formed 17th district is rated a “Democratic toss-up” and was recently added to the DCCC’s “Districts in Play.”

Rep. Doyle has represented Western Pennsylvania for 28 years and is Chair of the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. He announced his retirement in October 2021 and lives in the newly formed 17th Congressional District.

“Throughout my time in Congress, I have proudly represented working families just like mine, and I’ve fought hard to make sure Western Pennsylvania’s needs and concerns are represented in Washington,” Congressman Doyle said. “We need our next representative to be someone who has a record of fighting for working families in this district, and that’s why I’m proud to endorse Sean Meloy. Sean is the leader Allegheny County needs, and as a resident of Pennsylvania’s newly formed 17th District, I look forward to voting for him.”

“We need leaders who come from working families, who understand kitchen table issues because they’ve lived through them,” he observed. “I believe in Sean because I have worked with him since 2009, and I know he will be a leader who will get to Congress and hit the ground running. Now is the time to pass the torch to new leaders here in Western Pennsylvania.”

“Working in Congressman Doyle’s office showed me what a good congressperson should be – working hard to find solutions that help working families. The work we did in this office to improve the lives of Western Pennsylvanians is work I want to continue” said Meloy. “I am honored to have the support of Rep. Mike Doyle and I look forward to continuing a legacy of fighting for Western Pennsylvania.”

Doyle’s endorsement comes after Meloy’s campaign continues to gain grassroots momentum after recent endorsements from State Senator Lindsey Williams, the Young Democrats of Allegheny County, and the Steel City Stonewall Democrats. For a full list of endorsements, visit seanmeloy.com/endorsements.
